What We Believe

What Is A Gospel Church?

Our name is a combination of two things: the good news that Jesus died for you, and a focus on being a church.

Our Distinctives

Doctrine Matters. It is important and essential for spiritual growth! Here are some things that will help you get to know us.

Portland Gospel Church is connected to the Living Faith Fellowship family of churches.

  • We believe in the value of individual autonomy of local churches, overseen by their own pastors and leaders (Titus 1:5, 1 These 5:12, Heb 13:17). We still partner with other churches to reach the world.

  • The church is the only organization on the planet that has been commissioned to reaching the world with the saving message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We choose to focus most of our efforts on Christian and missional activity in our local communities, such as bible study, evangelism, discipleship, and worship services.

  • We could easily be called Portland Baptist Church, but we chose to include the gospel in our name instead to focus our church vision around reaching others.

  • We love the bible! We believe it is God's word inspired for man today (2 Tim 3:16) and that you can know it and study if for yourself. Dispensationalism doesn't allegorize or overly spiritualize things that are hard to grasp. We simply put them in their place in time and history and learn from them.

    • Take scripture literally as much as possible

    • Distinction between Israel and the church

    • Belief in the rapture, tribulation, and millennium
